About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the lives of boys on the NDIS by offering tailored mental health support, community access, life skill development, and wellbeing programs. We believe every young man deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling and independent life, and we’re committed to helping our participants reach their full potential.
My Story

Hi, I’m Nick

The founder of Headstart Melbourne. My journey to creating this business stems from my own struggles with mental health during my teenage years. I lost family members and saw myself getting into trouble as my mental health deteriorated, which made navigating life incredibly challenging. These experiences fueled my passion for helping others facing similar struggles.

I started Headstart Melbourne because I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to find reliable, compassionate support. My own journey through the mental health system was filled with obstacles. I wanted to create a service that offers consistent, personalised care to those who need it most.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for Australians with permanent and significant disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and improved quality of life. It offers funding for services such as personal care, therapy, and community participation.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?

To be eligible for the NDIS, you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to perform everyday tasks. Additionally, you must be under the age of 65 when first accessing the scheme.

How do I apply for the NDIS?

You can apply by contacting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly via phone or their website. Alternatively, you can seek assistance from a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or support coordinator to help guide you through the application process.

What types of services are covered by the NDIS?

The NDIS covers a wide range of services, including personal care, transportation, community access, therapeutic supports, equipment, and home modifications. The specific services covered will depend on your individual plan and goals.

How is my NDIS plan developed?

Your NDIS plan is created in collaboration with you and your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC). It focuses on your personal goals and the supports you need to achieve them. The plan will be reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your needs.

What is the role of a support worker in the NDIS?

Support workers assist NDIS participants with daily tasks, personal care, community access, and achieving their personal goals. They provide tailored support to help participants live more independently and confidently.

How do I choose my NDIS service providers?

You have the choice and control to select your service providers under the NDIS. You can research providers, ask for recommendations, and select the ones that best align with your needs, goals, and preferences. You are free to change providers at any time.
